You won't however, notice the $1.00 bills, the temperature, the people, the events or anything else about your internal state--just the hunting for the $5.00 bill. So what has this got to do with shortness of breath? Everything.
What you focus on increases--a rule of consciousness. So when breath is short or tight or uncomfortable your focus is NOT on the one state of being that can help you most. Peace.
Practice finding (noticing) peace many times a day. Your general life will improve--every single aspect of it. (I know that's quite a claim, but try it and prove me wrong!)
Practice before you're short of breath so when you are you can find (notice) the peace that is there. It actually IS there--even though it often doesn't feel that way. It is. You are. You can find (notice) the peace that IS there...even if it's only a teeny-tiny bit. Focus on that.
What you focus on increases...remember that rule of consciousness? A tiny 'piece of peace' becomes more, then more, then you'll find your breathing eases. Try it, you'll like it.
